Report from our friend Pascal...

4 days fishing trip
3 anglers
Boat: Stacer 5m center console, 90hp Mariner
Location: near Koumac, Northern New Caledonia
Total catch: 43 GT (47kg, 41kg, 36kg, 3x30kg, 28kg) average weight 22kg-25kg
Many jobfish, coral trout, 2x yellowfin (1 yellowfin on 30lb jigging), 1 Doggie eaten by a shark :( (no foto), and lots of red bass ........

damn Luke, i wish you wouldn't post pictures like that!!. i'll be there in 10 days and i had tenatively planned on spending my first night at Koumac to fish that area. now i won't sleep worth a crap. thanks a lot mate. seriously, were these fish caught inside the reef or on the outside( i assume because of the tuna catch it was on the outside.  tight lines always!!!   jerry

Most of the fish were caught on the reef fringe on the oceanside.

Don't worry though i know of many GTs over 40kg caught inside the lagoon. I bagged a 40-45kg bastard casting to a beautiful cliff 10 minutes from Malabou!
