If someone can set up packages with a decent boat, I do not think they will be short of takers! Still in awe at the fat nature of those fish  - incredible pics.

I'm sure the Somali pirates would love some flash new boats too - perhaps thats why they use those old clunkers instead!

$3,000 or $4,000 for international travel etc, plus 2000 euros (not quite $3,000 at current rates)....comparable to a Nomad trip....ok, it's not liveabord, the boats are more modest. I don't know if there is much by-catch available etc...

but to go catch massive GT's in an exotic location? Doesn't seem stupid expensive to me

And there is a law conference in Dubai next year around the GT season Vincenzo is talking about....hmmmm, tax deductible flights to Dubai.....

Hmmmm....cost of divorce.....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm  :-\

Definately got my interest Vincenzo!

Any visa or visitor issues coming from the UK?

Is it a pirate risk being so close to Somalia? any issues travelling through Yemen?

We only transit in Saana'a we stay one night.

I never saw pirates in Socotra and we are far 400 km to Somali cost.

I don't want to tell you that is sure place but for the moment I never had problem.

There a lot of turists from Europe and Japan for normal trips but came or no is your personal position.

To understand well the place where we stay for fishing.

Thi is the mother tend where we eat and pass time when we don't fish.

We have 2 toyota at the cap used to drive the group to the spot.

Normaly in the afternoon we fish from the cost in light tackle or flyfishing.

Nice Bonefish Vincenzo....were there many in the shallow stuff? Add untouched bonefish to the mix and this area becomes even more attractive.

Bonefish too? Now you really got my attention. Those amazing gt's in the mornings and playing around with the flyrod in the afternoon, sounds almost too good to be true. And all this " close and cheap" for us europeans! I will definately check this out. Still the pirate situation worries me. When I went to Cosmoledo lur mothership was with crew was taken only a month later - and the seychelles are way further from Somalia. But still, I am very tempted. What area did you fish in Oman Vincenco? I fished the Musandam once myself - very accessible even from Scandinavia:-)

Fantastic prospects there Vincenzo.

The island is quite large....so there could be even more possiblity there than ever imagined.

Yes is possible, but sorry i prefer don't speack about logistic, if someone have some question i will be glade to answer on mail.

Sorry but i had some problems in other forums before.

About jigging we are tryng to do our best but i had hight and law results, at the moment we didn't find doggy, probably there aren't or maybe we must fish in other spot little bit far fron the island, but we need bigger boats.

So we find some shark, little amberjack, coral, groupers, rusty rosy green jobfish, emperor and other kind of snapper i don't know exactly the name.

Not so big but better than nothing.

Some little GT

And sometime some fish who run away and brake the line. only 60 pound due to the strong current.

We will see in future

Thanx Vincenzo
