Bali for sure. The waves are killer Dreamland, Padang Padang, Uluwatu all within 20 minutes drive of each other. GT fishing is good as well but not between June and September I believe?

I have a place overlooking Dreamland and it breaks 100m+ reef breaks most of the year. In the right season I have seen it pushing 15'+ on the bigger sets. Usually breaks between 4'-6'.

Fiji caters for both, as does New Caledonia. Totally doable within budget and offering all a quality experience.
Enjoy your reseach.

Cheers David

Thanks Ben.I was in Bali many times to surf, now I would change our trip to a different spot.In 2009 we made a day trip to Nusa Penida, but only caught small tunas.

Kavieng in Papua New Guinea

Has superb surfing and fishing is excellent. Accommodation is cheap at the island. Have included some links for further info.

I stayed at Mango Bay resort, and booked the trip through ocean blue fishing charters. If you stay at Mango Bay, they have a surf school and boat they can take you out on depending on your level of expirence (which sounds like its pretty good). We fished for 4 days over the easter break and managed a 15 GT's around 20-25kg. Although there were bigger ones there. There are a number of reef breaks around the area too (I just can't remember the name of them, i just remember frigates because it blew my mind!) Im not too sure what the best time would be for surf. But the guys from ocean blue suggested november through march as the best time to catch bigger Gt's and yellowfin on poppers. If you search Fiji Coral coast in the report section there should be a few reports from fella's who have been out with the guys from Mango Bay!

I don't know much about surfing and have fished Fiji and New Cal when it's been dead flat aswell as pretty big. When I organise groups who want to surf, kite board, dive etc I usually put them in touch with our team on the ground who specialise in these other activities.

Fiji's Coral Coast faces south so gets the wind.  New Cal probably gets more wind than most places, probably due to it's orientation South East and big mountain range spanning along it's interior length.  Moderate wind is good for GT's and swell also I guess. It also has a huge kite boarding, wind surfing following and competitions - due to the Alyzee that is pretty reliable.

As Tony said, good surf at New Cal, - check it on YouTube.

Cheers David
