Hey all, i'm starting to look into a trip heading over to New Caledonia for the first time for a couple of weeks next year some time and was after a little advice, info or tips on the place. It's not going to be a full on every day fishing holiday but want to get at least 2-3 solid days in fishing for GT's. Basically i need to know of some good areas to look at staying in which has nice accommodation, tropical, but still not to far from some good GT fishing action. Also whats the best time of year to be heading over there for GT's? Would be much appreciated for any advice that anyone could give that has been there before.

Cheers,

Brett.

Your only option is to fish with LPB - to which i am more than happy to assist you in organising.

Don't get too hung up about fishing the full moon - full moon is prime, but there are always fish around during all moon phases, but like any fishery there can be times where fishing is tough. You can fish year-round for GTS - however, the bigger boys are more prevalent from May to October.

The main fishing locations exist in the south (Port-Boise 1.5 hours from Noumea) and the north (Malabou 4 hours from Noumea). There is also a location in the middle northern half (Koumac) which is about 3.5 hours from Noumea which is worth visiting.

There is no ideal area if you are planning on taking a family/partner etc. They are all pretty remote locations but Malabou does have a good resort.

LPB is possibly doing day-trips from Noumea marina but i am not sure about the fishery around there - it should be pretty good but by no means equal to the other locations mentioned - could be another option for you.

Let me know if you want more info or help organising your trip.
