Hey all, im looking at upgrading all my hooks on all the lures that i will be running Treble hooks on. Just wondering if anyone can tell me whats the differance is between the Owner ST-66 5/0 and the Owner ST-76TN 5/0 and which ones are best to order in.

Cheers,

Brett.

Hi Brett

The owner ts77 are allot heavier guage and they weigh allot also
If yoy fit them to mass produced poppers like the halcos they might not have the best action.
buy both and test which ones are more sutable to your poppers.

Cheers ivan

Brett,
Ivan hit it on the head....the ST-66 is 4X strong....the 77's are heavier 5X strong.
Saw them at the trade show....
If your poppers are finely balanced, a 77 off the guts and a 66 off the tail may work...need to play with the toys a bit to make em work when you do a re-fit!!

If you want to get right down to it, there are some measurements here: www.bluewater.net.au/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=owner+tn+5%2F0&x=4&y=7

ST-66TN 5/0 has wire in the bend that measures 2.4mm x 2.9mm, with a 20mm gape.
ST-76TN 5/0 has wire in the bend that measures 3.0mm x 3.6mm, with a 21mm gape.

the ST-76 is a really tough treble - I haven't seen one opened up yet although Eric Le Guyader told me that he had one open up in New Caledonia earlier this year.
As Ivan said, the only thing is it is very heavy.

ST-66s works fine unless you are targeting really big fish. Also, the 66 comes in barbless whereas the 76 does not. I grind them off with a dremel anyway
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Hi Guys
had a few st66 bent and flattened by big yellowfin tuna,i think the fish gets it in the corner of its jaw and then bites down thus doing the damage. Buts thats the exeption.Never had a problem with the st76 in that regard. The owner guys tell me that even the st76 are being bent on some big gts at lazarus banks but as i said thats the exeption.
