For rod I will be needing something a little longer just in case I might not be on a boat....DJ83MH seems the right choice for me....Reel 10k with SOM16k...and the lure Adhek Dragon Net...

the answer to this is "not very far". It's made for significantly heavier lures.

How far does the MH79XH throw the seafrog 120?

I used a MH79XH in the Coral Sea and it did not throw a 130g very far at all but it could cast heavier lures very well (i.e. 170g+).

Let's put the location somewhere like the Coral Sea. Conditions are variable.

I'm going to change my lure to something heavier to suit my rod selection - Big Kong 200.

I'm easy pleased, because I have only used 7 or 8 rods

My Ripple Fisher 79R, a Stella 10000SW with 16000 SOM spool and either an Orion bigfoot 140 in pink and white or a Cubera 125 in Green Spots

Both easy to cast, easy to use in almost any conditions and relatively easy on the pocket to lose!!

What is the max the reversal is comfortable casting and popping? is it a lot softer than the PF, they look nice! I want one!!!

Variable conditions, I stay with my selection :).  If could only ever own one  type of popper it would be Craftbait GT3 150 - the ultimate all round popper with "that" wiring system and stunning finishes.  And MH80H and Stella 18000 are no-brainers for me.

I love seeing leftfield selections like Adhek Dragonet.  For those who don't know, this lure is a bit like a Carpenter Kattobi, and like the Kattobi, was originally developed as a tuna lure.

Mine would be EP82/38 and Heru Skipjack 90 that has proven itself with GT , YFT , Sailfish and other odd fish such as Narrow barred Mackerel , Barracuda , Black tipped shark , Snapper and Green jobfish . Reel is still Stella 16000F because I have spare spools with this old reel which accomodates PE 6 , PE 7 n PE 8 lines .

Great choice Ben.  I could so easily have given exactly that set up.

About 170 is the max, though I find it best from 110-150

and relatively easy on the pocket to lose!!

Scott, if the selection is limited to one lure, then price wouldn't matter, because once that solitary lure has been wiped out...it's game over.  ;)

FWIW, I'd go with:
Rod: Carpenter SP78H
Reel: Stella 10K FA spooled with 100 pound JB (on a 20K spool)
Lure: Home made timber fusilier coloured 100gram stickbait, sinking version (see below)

MH80H
Stella 18K with a standard spool. Haven't a had a good run with aftermarket spools :(
Orion Bigfoot 170 (there is quite simply no substitute)
