I've got a Kaibutsu Long Cast and love it. Use it as much as my Tokara and WV so that is some indication. Sold the Deep Monster model though so you get the idea and the Surface Monster that I have used is just silly.

flying from the Uk you can take a rod tube as checked baggage along with your checked bag providing they are both within the 23kg limit together other wise you will be charged for the extra bag which is 47aud each way.

There you go then - no extra charge for a rod case except if it takes you over the limit. A Carmate case weighs about 3 kgs, so is unlikely to effect your baggage limit too much.
