Take a look at the poppers and sticks from Adhek.net
They are brilliant, and pretty cheap.

Fluoro is great for abrasion resistance but doesnt have the stretch needed when using braid. Personally I use 150lb shock leader and 100lb braid when expecting GT's an other species up to 40kg & 300lb shock leader and 120lb and up braid when hunting GT's that could go bigger and in shallow water.

Everything else looks good, IMHO, you might want to upgrade to a better popper. The Roostas are ok but require alot more effort than other more expensive poppers. That said I watch a buddy catch 3 GT's in a row using a Roosta Redhead, popping right next to myself using a Craft Bait GT3. Of course the GT's were after a redhead popper that day...right :<)...... but seriously the Craftbait GT3 poppers cant be beat for easy of use and effectiveness. I pop mine from the gimbal up to about the last 20' to the boat.

Hope this helps and we will be waiting for pics.

Hello Ben,

Of course this will be of immense help,
Somehow I have always caught GTs with poppers with red eyes :P
Might sound childish...though
I have not bought the red head one,
Craft  bait GT3...I don't know but will be surely buying GT2 before going there...
Apart from the weight difference any other difference is there between them?

Saiki

I fished only 1 time in Andaman. I would like to suggest you to use a stronger shock leader for popping (200 lb for me is OK)  and some stronger lures. I like Heru production (Cubera, Ulua and Bobara), cheap and good quality.
Or, if you can invest some more $, take a look in Craft Bait (GT2, GT 3, Real Bait) and Hammer Head production (E Cup for your rod should be OK).

Saikat,

I would refer your concerns with either whoever is organizing your charter or with somebody who has experience fishing the area that you are intending to fish. The equipment and the types of lures that are suitable varies considerably from location to location depending on the size of fish generally encountered, the depth and environment that the fish are holding in and, not least of all, the ability and experinece of the angler.

I am undertaking my first big GT trip in two weeks time and that's exactly what I've done and have confidence in the advice I've received.

Trevor

Saikat,
I have not used the GT2 so I cannot commit on it. As Trevor has said your best bet would definatley be to ask the guide you are using. They want you to catch just as much, if not more, than you do.

Good luck,
Ben

You suggest some...

I have couple of friends who works professionally as divers out there,
They know a lot about the reefs...

Depending a lot upon them...
One of them is a hardcore GT angler :)
