Hi Guys
I brought all the lures so that the losses were for 3 anglers fishing. The sharks were really tough. Some times all day and other times just for spurts. They followed fish right up on to the swim step as we dragged the fish aboard. That said they didn't ruin the fishing like I have had while live bait tuna fishing. I do think the Orions and some of the sub surface lures attract sharks with their vibrations more than popper do.
I also want to give a plug for Olivier and Quo Vadis. I have gotten some PMs about the operation. The trip was 5 full days and 4 nights. The cost was reasonable considering what was provided. Quo Vadis is a really stable catamaran and the bow has all the room in the world for 2 anglers. The deck was very non slip even in the rain. Olivier was very good on the wheel and positioned us so that even when the wind was less than ideal we got a couple of cast with Gammas at every point. The food was really great. I asked for some specifics like eggs and real coffee and real.milk and they provided deliciously prepared meals. ( although in all fairness Rob on Nomad wins my chef on a boat award!).
Fred the #2 or deckhand was fantastic. When we got off the boat after the last night we left our gear. When I picked it up the next morning it was washed, cleaned, organized and ready to be packed away. When I got home I realized that everything was clan, salt free and ready to be stored. Also Fred helped with the two new guys. If not for him they wouldn't have had such a LUCKY trip.
