My next rod...:)
March 08, 2013, 07:03:47 PM
Hello guys...

I own a Yamaga Atlas GT 76/8 already...
It's a perfect stiff tipped rod for working the poppers.

I want another PE10 rod for my upcoming trip...
I want a stiff tip rod...meant for poppers only.

Please advise some...

RF ultimo 79H...eyeing this rod too any good reviews?
360 gms weight...210 gms max lure wt...:)

Regards,
Saiki

RF Ultimo 79H is made for stickbaits, not poppers. If you want dedicated popper rod take a look at:

Hammer Head Faube 77M+ or 77H
HOTs Gipang 77XXXH
RF Final Spirit GT79H or 78XH
Patriot Design Black Mafia 76

All are dedicated popper rods. Ripple Fisher Final Spirit GT79H will be the softest and so most friendly of them in terms of fighting the fish.

I forgot one more which I like how it works with 150g poppers also - Patriot Design Black Diamond 77.

78F is a very nice popper rod in that heavy PE8 to lighter PE10 range. 79R is more an all-round rod
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Good selection, i have fished this rod very hard with PE10 and caught very big fish on it, user friendly for it's class.

Just to prove there's no hard and fast rules in GT fishing I saw a very big fish caught on this rod this week using an ASWB 120g stickbait and ST 66s. Not surprisingly, the hooks were a total write-off.

The rod, on the other hand, performed very well. Impressive.

Interesting comments guys .The ripple fisher ultimo 79H is a powerful rod for use with stick baits ,,and the Carpenter MH80 is great rod for poppers up 180 grams ,These two rods what Ive used a lot ,and would leave home with out them ..

What is the ideal cast rating for the Ripple Fisher ultimo 79H?

Max on rod says 210g but ripple fisher understate their cast weights.
It throws a 200 gamma with 8/0 decoys no worries which is bout 240g.
Optimum cast range is between 120-180 lure weight.
