Singapore aquarium
May 04, 2008, 10:55:54 PM
I visited the Singapore aquarium today. It's not big but boy, there are some nice fish in there. They have a school of GTs in the main tank which range in size from nice to scary. I was observing them for about twenty minutes. One of the fish must be pushing the six feet mark - I wanted to catch it!

The other amazing fish were their Arapaima which is a freshwater fish from South America. It looks like an elongated barramundi. Some of the fish were just gigantic and I think were over seven feet in length. I wouldn't even hazard a guess at the weight of these things. There is a stocked lake in Thailand where you can catch these and I understand some people have caught them on poppers!
If it swims; I want to catch it!

I think that is what they call it, Wong.

It is about 1/3 the size of Underwater World at Caloundra and maybe 1/20 the size of Atlantis at Nassau BUT it has a 6 foot long GT and a few others almost as big!

Probably be at AH after 4pm today. Heading home tomorrow.

If it swims; I want to catch it!

Brandon...A mate's girlfriend does the marketing for one of Australia's big aquariums.
Apparently 2 of the night time security guards go sacked for taking fishing gear in and using it on the attractions!
I don't know how they got busted, but I think some fish ended up swimming around with hooks in places they didn't previously have them.

Can't blame them for trying  ;)

Dave.

Are you kidding, David? That's is just so funny if it is true. Those guys must be really stupid though. That was always going to be a reasonable possibility.

Yes it's absolutely true... :)

Here are some photo's I took in Langkawi in January this year.  The floating fish farm had a few interesting things, including this trio of 12-15kg GT's looking very displeased about swimming in a 6ft circle for their lives.   :( :(

Cheers Dave
