Any feedback or info how the trips having being going for the start of the year so far?

Late December and January is always quiet on the GT front and not many charters. I don't know why though, the lighter tackle and the billfish bite can be red hot.

The water starts to warm up from now on, you'll begin to get some news in the next couple of weeks or so.

I know that the "inshore non-GT" fishery can be insane in SO and would love to see reports thereon.

Has the GT season started ...when is the season?

I notice that there have been hardly any recent trip reports and photos indicating what's happening in the area.

Surely some members have been on recent trips to the area and could give us an update of how they went or have there just been no trips as the season has not started?

Trips are underway Craig, just hardly anyone really bothers to post reports any more.

I saw on Facebook that No Boundaries had four big GTs in the past week.

And Mr Ashraf's boat that Ocean Active sometimes charter had the biggest Cobia I have ever seen on jig last week.

So the info is coming out

I miss reading the reports of the SO Monsters, kinda used to get my GT fix reading these reports.

I also check out NB and OA on Facebook for updates and reports on the area.

I will go have a look at NB now, where did see the report of the Cobia?

Hi Craig, SO not many GTs for the last few months, usually fishes well for GTs early and late in the season, but we start our charters again this coming weekend down South so should hopefully have some reports up soon. Musandam in the North has been fishing quite well for GTs, Sails and even a couple of marlin the last couple of months. Been a bit lazy and will get up a few posts.

Excited to be be heading to the island in the next few days. The winter season has been a lot warmer than last year and the Musandam has had the best Winter action we've had in ages so we're holding thumbs for a bumper crop of big beasties early on in the season for the Halaniyats.

The interwebs can be a bit sketchy down south but we'll do our best to keep everyone up to date on whats happening as always.

How do the seasons work in SO?

There's GTs holding there all year but from May to late September the Kareef (monsoon) blows in and conditions become treacherous with big seas and even bigger winds.

The prime time is from late September to the mid/end of November and from early March to the end of April.
