Fishing in Hawaii

 Hi Guys,

  The winds have just been blowing all summer long.Finally after 3 months i got a chance to fish two days off a boat and do some jigging,bottom fishing,and popping..Caught a bunch of Jobfish,amberjack,GT'S,and omilu's.Here are a few pics.

I see you are a Matsutani fan, how does the new PD casting weapon handle? which model is it?

I also noted your name on one of the 3 armorclads pictured on the 7seas website!

How do the 2 rods compare if you don't mind me asking?

for you ironmen out there, Pat is using one of the new Fire Vortex from Patriot Design in the first photo. Pat is a very, very experienced and strong GT fisherman and you can see the effort going into loading that rod up! The younger guys among you probably think that looks great. To some of us older guys, that rod just looks scary!

I haven't seen them myself but it looks like there is a good choice of rods in the range including more manageable sticks.

For those masochist who want one, Duncan also has a jigging rod you might be interested in............

  Hi Brandon,
        A few years ago i was a bit stronger & could land GT'S in a timely manner.Nowadays they seem to give be a lot of aches and pains.However this partcular GT was boated quickly.
     
       Thanks Andy.The Fire Vortex from Patriot Design is heavier and a bit stiffer than the armorclad.Much more powerful and as i found out the hard way-to much of a rod for me.

Brandon, Dave got the Spin 'Monster Buster' off Duncan so it now resides in NZ, he must think he is in his 20's not 50's .

The spin one isn't the real animal although still a bit ridiculous. I was hoping Dave bought the one which they describe as  "for Ironman". I wanted Dave to buy that one for Cam so he could use it back in NZ. He wouldn't be such a deviant after that!!

I think we need a height chart like the one found on most of the better theme park rides to get the right sized anglers for the Patriot Black Mafia or Fire Vortex....6'5 & built like Gordon Low

Gordon felt if there was a rod that might do him justice, then the Fire Vortex is IT!!!
Silly bugger was pushing 600KG with his legs the other night at the gym....he's certainly 'Built for Fire Vortex'.
I was more sane & ordered the Black Diamond 7'7

it's getting nasty now. I'll let you guys fight over the Fire Vortex. It's clearly out of my league. I reckon it will test even Gordie out after twenty minutes hooked on an angry 65kg New Caledonian GT.

Clearly, a real weapon for those who can handle it. Unfortunately, I'm too much of a wuss

I agree! I want to see how puffed the big fella will look after an extended fight with an XOS Fraser Island or New Cal GT....

Pat, if you read this, I'd like your thoughts on the rod....it looks like a serious bit of gear that does not like to yield to GT's!
