hi , everyone, me, Eriko Susanto ,people call me rico, Indonesian Citizen , stay at jakarta, cirebon(at workday now).. go fishing when i have chance leaving my daily work ..
I am a ryobi fishing tool lover.. reasonable price and good performance.
I am a little picky when choosing fishing tools with my tight budged and choose on features than a brand.. IMHO..reels, Accurate & van Stall( best but expensive  :o ) Shimano ( good stuff but less feature  :D ) Daiwa ( old stuff left in technologies  ;)) Ryobi & Avet( good and fair w price ;D ). rods, carpenter, ripple fisher,tenryu,smith.. oops too expensive.. shimano's ,jigzam, a little bit expensive but good choice, daiwa.. good price but don't have the heavy tackle, some others local brand.. good choice but not best if targeting over 30+..
Any brand I use ,never win if have to face with reef.. ... 200-300lbs leader will break in seconds..
I love to try any fishing technique & exploring places.
Favorite popping lure 75-125 gr hani' straberry chugger, 70-150 gr hokky's sprinter w natural bait colour, adhek's gecko hologram..  Favorite jigging lure, Duel ,Reflect pirk, and cheap 200-300 gr surecatch luminous.

Hi Everyone,

I'm Slads. New to GT popping (read still to catch one on a popper). I'm in Central Queensland, have a boat and fish out of Yeppoon. I am gearing up for our biannual Swains trip next May. Hoping to find some GT's around the reefs. This is a great place to find info and advice, I'm still getting up to speed on all the old posts.

I'm lucky to have some fellow GTPopping members close by to encourage me into spending thousands (Thanks Ken).

Looking forward to speaking to you all.

Slads

Gday Slads, seems we're getting ourselves a little popping posse fishing out of yeppoon - think that makes at least 5 of us now.  Plenty of places to get that first GT on a popper around here, you going to give it a crack over christmas?  Hoping to get amongst them ourselves - although the medium range forecast (14 day) looks pretty damn ordinairy  :'(

Welcome Jason!!

Mate, I really haven't started on you yet, you NEED a Smith or a Carpenter or a Ripple Fisher to go with that lovely Saltiga...

And what about some Ebipops....
And some Hammerheads....
And some Orions....
And some Jais....

Hi Travis, 5 eh? will have to organise a trip together. I'm on call over Chrissy / NY so chances of getting out will be slim, unless someone will cover me (COL T????). Your right the weather's not looking flash.

Ken are you offering me your tokara60? I'm yet to cast the GT special in anger.

Hi Everyone, Been reading the forums for a while now and felt I should introduce myself.

Im an Aussie currently living in the Maldives. Had never fished for Gt's before coming here  but have managed to land a few decent fish. Hoping to pick up some tips and tricks to improve my catch rate.

Hi All,

I'm based in the UK and despite being thousands of miles from the nearest GT I've developed a full blown case of GT fever.  So far I've fished Musandam in Oman and Kadavu in Fiji for GT's with great results at both venues.  I hope to visit Fiji again fairly soon and aim to fish New Cale in the not too distant future too.

Here in the UK I mostly throw lures and flies at Pike.  I have also fished in Ireland, Sweden, Spain, France, Egypt, Guinea Bissau and the Florida Keys.

See you out there.

Hallo to all members,

I have just recently moved to Brisbane from New Zealand. Got into jigging for kingfish over the last 2 years with great success and have been bittin by the popping bug over the last year. Have not been very successfull due to lack of local knowledge. So if anyone can help with pointers on where to go to chase GT's from Stradbroke to Fraser, would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Hi All
Was searching through the net on what tackle and reels etc pre-planning for a trip to Swains Reef in October and came across this forum which blew me away finding heaps of info ravelled into one site.
Extremely well done!

G'day. My names is Mike, you might know me as username Nomadic on some sites and my friends call me Getaway.

My experience is 90% land based spinning and livebaiting. My work regularly takes me all over Australia, New Zealand, Sth Pacific Islands and soon to Indonesia. Anywhere that there are ports that service cruise ships basically. As a result, I usually pack my custom CD rods and saltigas for land based spinning and occassionally hook up a trip for GTs on a boat.

I am due to spend some time in Fiji, Vanuatu and New Caledonia in coming months so I thought I had better invest in a dedicated GT popper rod and some poppers to try and get a GT over 50kg. I have read Brandons reports on poppers and rods and found them very useful, but I will post specific questions in relevant forums.

Oh and Luke I met you down at the Tubes that day when Toru gave you one of his hand made poppers and the stripies were teasing us just out of casting range.

Cheers
