Hello everyone, my name is Glenn Duncan.
Long time saltwater fly fisherman and novice big gt angler. After trading up to bigger boat earlier last year (5.8m glass yank cc) my interest  in topwater gt fishing has  grown as  quick as my fluff chucking has wained ,and now I plan my holidays around potential hotspots. Unsuccessful trips this year include 10 days in the Whitsunday which included a highlight of a 2kilo minnow, charter to the Swains that ended 5 days short because of weather and numerous weekend trips in which my mates are starting to ridicule me about the size of the gear I'm using and the limited results ( a Pb of 8kg using 50kg gear isn't something to brag about). I'm determine to crack the code and hope to be bragging soon in the other forums on this site. Based  on the Sunny Coast I hope to learn as much as i can from the gurus here and contribute when I can. Thanks for having me on board. ;D

Aloha everyone,

My name is Brett, I'm from Kailua, Hawaii. I've been fishing my whole life here for GT, mostly trolling, live-lining, and shore casting (slide baiting) for them, but just starting off with the plugging gear. Really looking forward to learning here and hoping to contribute more soon.

Hello everyone,

Sorry, I forgot to put message here...
This is Yuki Tanimoto & nickname is TANIY from Tokyo, Japan.

If you have any interest to visit Japan or want to know popping & jigging in Japan, maybe I can help you.
BUT please do not ask me about fishing tackle itself because I am not good to tell the feeling...

Cheers!

Hi All

I am Craig , from South Africa... I mostly do you shore based and estuary lure fishing here in SA targeting our main species fish !

But I was exposed to GT fishing 10yrs ago in Mozambique and the addiction set in !

Well it was exactly 10years since i Popped for GT's and in March 2012 I went back to the place where the dream started and experienced some decent Popping for the area .

Now GT Popping consumes me and I look forward to browsing and reading through the threads\topics on this forum !

Regards

Craig

Aloha Everyone

Newbie to this forum.  Been an avid fisherman for Uluas (GT) fromshore with ulua poles (as we call them that) and conventional reels from shore.  Just recently started getting into GT popping from shore.  Looks like a pretty laid back no drama forum.  Shoots.  Aloha

Hello people,

I am Arnout from the Netherlands. I fish since can walk. In my younger days in freshwater for Pike and Carp also coarsefsihing for bream.
From my 16 only in saltwater a long the dutch coast. Mostly surfcasting competition,s. The first experience with big game fishing was at tenerife.
1 week later i booked a trip to the red sea in Egypt. Bin there a second time. After that been in Kenia ( Malindi) - Mexico ( Cancun) Fogo ( Cabo Verde)
Florida ( Tarpon and Sharks). First experience with jigging and popping was in 2008 at Christmas Island Australia. Last year fished 8 days in Costa Rica.
For the next trip we are thinking about Oman - Madagaskar - Tanzania or Panama. Or maybe Christmas Island again.

Are there more people from NL on this forum?

Best regards,

Arnout.

Hi everyone.  My name is Andrew Walker and I am from the south coast of the UK.  I have done some, and plan some more, foreign trips and have a trip to Oman lined up for the end of this year so I joined this Forum to learn what I need to get and how to use it!  I go from being a relatively experienced angler (on my turf!) to a complete noddy, I dont understand half the terms used and never heard of most of the manufacturers but it should be a fun learning curve.  Just a shame that I will never use any of the tackle I am going to get on any fish in our waters!

Apologies in advance but I will be asking some real dumb, basic questions!

My name is Trevor Skinner and I'm an expatriate Aussie living in Dubai for the last 13 years.

As far as GT popping and jigging as technique goes I'm a complete novice although I have been fishing since I was young having grown up on the Georges River in Sydney chasing bream, whiting and flathead  and then graduating to fishing on dad's 28ft Bertram chasing Marlin, Tuna and Sharks. The standard joke in the family is that myself and two of my brothers (who are both younger but much more experienced anglers) is that when it rains we all go looking for fish in the puddles!

About 20 years ago I moved to the UK and took up fishing with the long wand, something I still keep my hand in although somewhat sporadically these days.

I recently contacted Nick Bowles (Ocean Active) who is arranging my first dedicated crack at GTs in Oman later this year so I'm looking forward to gleening some useful information and asking some probably silly questions along the way.

Looking forward to it.

Regards,

Trevor
