Hi guys, my name is Paul and I'm from Holland.

This place is a great source for information!!

Currently planning a trip for next April and have the following set-up:
Smith WRC 80P/35 with Shimano Stella 10.000 (+20.000 spare spool)

I already have 5 Orions: ConoCono, BigFoot, Flapper, BigJim and FraserPop and will be buying some AdHek and HERU soon.
I hope that will do the trick for this first GT-trip...
I have fished with poppers earlier, but that was just for a few hours on Mauritius.

Let hope I'm fit enough  :D

Hi all just saying hello.
My name is John and my job is as a personal fishing guide and  has me chasing all types of fish all over Australia and OS.
I was owner of a sport and game fishing charter company for 22 years and prior to that a commercial fisherman for 9 years.
My boss is a mad keen jigging and popper fisherman of Chinese origin .he is young and fit and ready to take on anything to hits his gear.
Currently we are readying for our Bluefin season which will see us fish South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New south wales before we head overseas to New Caledonia then back again to fish the Great Barrier reef.

Look forward to learning from all on this fantastic site .

G'day John

Welcome to GTpopping.
I'm sure you'll be able to teach us all a thing or 2.
Look closely and you'll see that all these guys wear casting and jigging gloves  ;) ;D
It's heaps more fun on here than some other forums  ;D ;D

Cheers Rob (aka wyldone)

Hi to all:

My name is Chia Zeng Juang, 22 Years old. I am from El Salvador (this is in Central America) unfortunately... we do not have Giant Trevally in El Salvador... the species that I fish for in El Salvador are: Roosterfish, Cubera Snapper, Goliath Grouper, Jack cravelle, Dorado, Sailfish, Yellowfin tuna, Blue/Black Marlin, Snook, etc... my favorite type of fishing is popping, either from the boat or from the surf.

the reason why I am in this forum is: 1. It has tons of really good info 2. people here seems to be very nice 3. I am in Taiwan till august, and want to fish for GT!!

hope to learn a lot from you guys!!

Chia Zeng

Hi All
Long time fisherman, lately Game fishing off NSW south coast (Bermagui) for Marlin Yellowfin etc.
Moving to Queensland shortly & visiting Exmouth so decided to make a foray into GT fishing.
Lots to learn  :( & new gear to purchase  :)
Will need to get fit though.. :(
This forum seems a great place to start.
Fishing is not life & death...its much more important than that!

I live on the East Coast of the US in NC and am an avid bluewater jigger and popper. I have not fished GT's but hope to before I croak! I have many good opportunities for primarily Yellowfin, Blackfin, and large Bluefin here in NC. I also have a distributorship for jigging rods and high end jigs.

When i can't get tuna, I work much harder for the rest of the offerings.

I enjoy learning from the guys higher in the learning curve than myself. Deep jigging in the US is growing, but very slowly. It is amazing that some people are so set is only doing what their daddys did.

I really enjoy reading about the sport and how it is manifested all over the world.

Hey Guy's my name is Jarrod Day hence my nickname. I work full time in Cranbourne Tackle World in Victoria and in my spare time, am a fishing Journalist. I also do some local radio and amongst fishing for all things swimming, have a very big passion for GT popping and Jigging. Mind you I am also a huge fan of flicking for Calamari, weird one eh?

Anyway, although I don't get to post too much on GTpopping.com I am always around and if not on here one of the other fishing forum site on the net.

Personally, I am one very happily married man to a magnificent wife that lets me fish as much as poss, Gifted I know but she is the best catch I have. I have two daughters Asha-Marie (4) who is a die hard angler and sleeps with a great selection of my lures (with hooks attached) and Kyla (18 months) who has just found true love in a plush fish toy (who would have thought).

I travel around from state to state fishing 4-5 weeks of the year and fish around home once to twice a week.

This is me and I am always willing to answer any questions anybody would like to ask.....

cheers,

Jezza

Hi Guys,
My name is Doug Lindsay, I live in Brisbane and have fallen in love with the GTs! I have done a Nomad Bugatti trip in 08, a 3 day gameboat Nomad trip last year and fished Ono Island Fiji Jan this year. I have recently acquired a 6.2m Seafarer centre cosole ( twin 115s) that i hope to explore some of the GT grounds up north with. My biggest popper outfit is just a Saltiga 6000gt with carbontex, 80lb Tufline and Daiwa MonsterMesh. I know its not the cutting edge of outfits, but for the money, it works well. My favourite lure is the Heru Tuna 100. These things were the bomb in Fiji! They don't cost the earth either. We also have great success with the Tuna 80 on the smaller GTs using 50lb gear. Very easy to throw around all day :)
The 2 coolest things I've seen on the water was Ed from Nomad scoring a 20 odd kg Gt whilst poppering from the tower ( yep, 9m in the air) of Fascination LOL and Pete Childs hooking a monster GT at Ono that would have been horribly close to 60kg. It smashed him and then just sat there in full view, thrashing the water to foam for nearly a minute, whilst we went ballistic. Of course it didnt last long on PE 6, but it was one for the camp fire, for sure.
Hope to share some of the future good times with you guys, I enjoy telling a story!
Cheers

Hey Doug Im on the Tweed if your ever looking for someone to join you chasing GTs I would be glad to share the costs. My experience on GTs was as a guide in the gulf certainly not the class of NC or Nomad but there were enough for me to believe there is some hidden ground there untouched . So Im only really getting serious about them now , let me know if short on a deckie
