The difference between the S-extreme reels and the other Z models are as follows:

New gears (smoother, stronger)
New bearings (more corrosion resistant)
New drag (carbontex style material - no more stickiness on startup)
Bearing at the bottom of the handle stem replaced with bushing.

I've been lucky enough to play with one of the early production models for a while now and have had a lot of fun with it. The reels should be in store within the next few days. I'll post a few pics shortly

Yep we have them for that amount and yeah its getting exy!!

yeah, i think most manufacturer's have had a price hike since new years. shimano have had a 10-15% rise as well apparantly.. at least thats what the local shop said. rapala x rap 25 being sold at close to $50 each, nearly double their original retail price.. maybe its just my local shop?? can anyone else confirm??   ...

I'd be asking the question. I picked one up on the weekend for $25.
