Recent Whitsunday GT captures!

(1/3) > >>

Cy and Kerrin Taylor:
Hi,

Here's some recent captures of GT caught in the Whitsunday islands.

All fish were caught on debarbed Nomad Ulua's stickbaits, Nomad Cubera poppers, Halco Roosta Haymaker poppers and a Carpenter Anthias popper.

The outfits that landed them were an 8000 Shimano Stella with a 10kg - 15kg T-Curve Bluewater spin rod, 80lb Fins braid and 120 to 150lb leader.

We've found that pausing the stickbait or popper more often in the retrieve is a good way to improve the hookup rate as the GT bite with more accuracy.

Most of the GT were caught with a 'pop, pop, pause' type retrieve on the poppers and a downwards stab of the rod with a sharp stop on the stickbaits. This makes them move about very fast on the suface and also keeps them from tumbling over.

We have upgraded our GT outfits to a 10000 & 180000 Stella SW with a Tcurve GT Special & a 15kg - 25kg Tcurve Bluewater spin rod. They are awesome outfits! One image is attached of them.

Thanks,

Cy & Kerrin Taylor
