Anyone have a JDM Stella SW5000PG?
March 28, 2010, 08:49:19 AM
Does anyone have or have seen/used one of these?

Thinking of switching from overhead to spin gear for my light setup.

Looking for something which will hold roughly 300m of PE3 which I think the little 5000 should.

Anyone know how big these are physically or has pics of one on a rod? We don't get them in NZ so any info would be greatly appreciated. Are they around a similar size to say a Daiwa Saltiga Game3500?

cheers,
Josh

they're only a little reel! I certainly wouldn't be concerned about the size.

I don't have a 3500 Saltiga Game but the 3500 reels are pretty much the same size as the 4000 reels. Here is one next to a Hyper Certate 4000. By the way, the reel is
not as big as you think. the capacity is about 240m of PE3. You should be looking at a SW6000 if you want 300m of PE3. the 6000 is the same size as the 5000.

Sorry the photos aren't great but I am using my iPhone.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Thanks Brandon,

Yeah I thought they would be that sort of size which is perfect for what I want as I am going to put it on a 150gm rod.

Most of our snapper jigging is done in less than 50m of water and will also use it occassionally for jigging kingies in the Hauraki Gulf (average size of around 8-15kg) sometimes bigger.

May just go for the 6000 size if its the same body but more capacity.

Cheers!.
