Where should I go for my first GT trip ?

Hi All,

I'm based in Sydney and I'm keen to go for my first GT trip sometime next year.
Where should I go ?
The Australian destinations seems to be more expensive than the overseas ones. Wouldn't mind a bit of jigging as well as I've done a bit of jigging in NZ and in Lord Howe.
Fiji, New Cal ?
I'm a total noob at Popping GT, the only popping I've done is for breams, whitings and rat kings in Sydney Harbour. So I'll probably need a good skipper to help me.

Hi Mario The choice can be quite confusing but I would have to be bias & suggest New Caledonia as it came up trumps for me on my first ever GT popping trip.Very easy to get to ,friendly locals & very experienced guides who can put you onto some quality fish.Fished the areas around Ouano & Nekweta last week with Eitenne,Frankie & Manu & had my first two GTs go over 40kg each.I would suggest sending David Noble who is a forum member a pm regarding info as he arranged my trip & gave me loads of helpful advice.Good luck.

As for the gear this is what I'm planning to get .

I love my tackle so I'll spend the $$ on something decent and I hope this is decent:
- Gipang 79XH
- Stella 18000SW spooled with 100lbs Tuf Line.
