Lures on the workbench

<< < (2/3) > >>

Travis Heaps:
As Peter said Angus - looking better and better each time.  Are you weighting your sticks at all?  Makes a huge difference, PM me if you want some pointers, we've probably talked all about it before though!

Where in the Sundays are you off to, same little get away spot?  My boat is getting an overhaul atm...can't wait to get back out and into them though.  Later,
Travis

Angus Hulme:
Thanks Fellas.

Mario, as I said in my original post, I don't really know what sort of timber most of them are. This is because I source the wood from some very unreliable sources, such as my Dads shed, and so mostly wouldn't have a clue what I'm using. Some of the stickbaits were some kind of pine, while the poppers are a reddish coloured hardwood. Sorry, that's not very helpful, I know! :-\

Mark, yeah, that drilling is a challenge, cos I still don't have a drill press, so I'm using an extra long drill bit in a standard hand drill, (drilled from both ends of the lure body). So by doing all the drilling by eye, this obviously leads to the aforementioned inaccuracies! ;)

But in the absence of any better system, it's what I'm currently putting up with.  :)

G'day Trav, long time, no hear. Hope you're well. Yeah mate, I am weighting the stickbaits, they will get a tail weight, and some lead inserted in the front wire hole as well which keeps the nose down a bit. Actually, by varying the amount of lead from lure to lure, I can make the lure float, sink, or even have it neutral in buoyancy with a little practice. I'll PM you.

Aaron Concord:
I dunno Angus, just dunno about them at all.

Though, if you weight them and wire them up, I'll give you $20 for the lot just to try them out for you  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Makes some of my home made stuff I made 20 years ago look like puss!

Keep it up mate and I promise, I am good for the $20.

Aaron.

David Rapley:
tidy work, very tidy.

Angus Hulme:
Thanks fellas, I have applied clear coats and done the wiring on some of them now, so will add more up to date photos in the next few days.

Aaron, it may surprise you, but you are not the first person to offer such a ludicrous deal for my lures mate! ;D And like the others before you, I will politely decline ;)

Cheers
Angus
