Perth Samson Update
November 25, 2010, 11:52:01 PM
Hey Guys,

Just a quick one to say from reports over the last week, finally the big fish are starting to show up in numbers!

Reported 100lb'er was jigged up today, with only a few sharkings...

Keen to get out and test the new Synit Seriola series on them, verrrry soon

So maybe things are starting to look up after all, lets just hope they get thicker bigger from now and into the New year

Cheers,
Sam

Sam

Ahh there was no picture of that 100lber, damn mouthy charter boat operators ;) Certainly there are a few more fish out there though.

The Synits certainly are here for a bit of punishment. We have a brand new pair of Synit DeepShot Seriolas to trial. Some of you guys would remember that board member Josh Morrison won the recent NZ YTK comp on one of the Synit rods in +200m of water too?

Tackle Tester: Synit DeepShot Seriola

Hey Jamie,

There is no rod named a Synit DS350 Seriola (the name under the bottom picture), there is only one Synit model in the Seriola series and that is a DeepShot Seriola.
However there is Synit Deepshot 350.
I am sure you will enjoy the Synit Deepshot Seriola and good luck trying to break your PB as it will be absolutely no problem landing a fish well above 25kg with that rod. It has already landed fish upto 90kg in the States. It is named a Synit Deepshot Tuna Pro in the States.

You are right!

Graeme tipped me off to that. Originally we were discussing the DS350, but then he mentioned the newer DS Seriola model may be more suitable for my requirements. I edited the 350 out of everything but the damn picture file name!

Any updates on the Samson fishing this season guys?

I have heard of a couple of overseas groups cancelling due to lack of fish?

I returned on Sunday from a few days with Al Bevan on Shikari charters.
Fish are certainly there. Plenty of unstoppables in amongst them. but we landed enough to keep us happy.
I was avidly watching all the reports ( or lack of reports) in the lead up to our trip.
For me this year highlighted the importance of booking a great skipper, lots of the other boats were not catching any or were losing everything hooked to sharks.
Al put us straight on the fish and we had minimal shark issues.
I have already booked my charter and accommodation for next year ( making it 7 years running)
This year I managed to catch a double figure Snapper, SBT and Samson all in the same day. ( all caught on jigs)
Cheers
Bob

It was good to hear you boys got revenge for us Bob, some of the big girls beat us up pretty good on the first part of the trip. How's Becks first ever snapper! What a ripper

Hey Andrew,
yeah after hearing about your trip I thought at least I won't have to worry about excess baggage on the flight home. They can be a truly brutal fish at times.
As for Bec's first snapper I doubt she will ever forget that fish ( or let anyone else forget that fish ) monumental effort but as we told her " it's all down hill from here ".

Cheers
Bob
