Old School Silk Japanese line
March 11, 2011, 11:57:01 AM
I just got my hands on this from a guy in Perth who found it in a shed cleanup. A friend of mine is staring a collection of old Japanese fishing paraphernalia so I thought he would love it. Has anyone seen this before, or know anything about it at all. Any info would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance
Ben

Hi Ben ,

This is the traditional fishing line upon which the so called PE line is the latest development of , even the unit measurement of " gouw " or G which we now know as PE something is based on this silk line . Perhaps others can add more ?

Found a few references to "Gouw" on some other fishing sites:
