Opinions - Jigwrex Vs Blue Rose

(1/4) > >>

Ben Rivers:
Guys,

Just sold my T Curve 200 Spin and looking to upgrade to another Jig Spin Rod.
I am considering at this stage, Jigwrex or Blue Rose.

Can anyone provide me with some advice on these sticks?

Thanks Ben

Al Morrison:
Ben, I cant comment on the Blue Rose much but i own a whole slew of Jigwrex's from PE 4 to PE 8 and have used them for everything from bait fishing for Sailfish to jigging for Sambos. I like them, never had an issue with them and have fished some reasonably high drags on the 508 (12kgs or so) and it worked the 500g jigs well. Its a budget class of rod, (around A$ 230 in Singapore) but they all perform well. I like them as short boat rods for livebaiting for Sails in Malaysia as they are easy to transport, handle the fish well and have some beef when its needed. My 11 yr old son was using the PE 4 version with no assistance. I have read, a long time back, a detailed report about the Blue Roses and their carbon content etc, but cannot remember the result. Another rod series that is worth looking at are the Smith WGJ Offshore Sticks. I have the PE 4-8 spinning version and that handled Sambos brilliantly and is my heavier jig rod of choice. I bought it in Singapore and didnt think it broke the bank either.

Tony Giang:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't you comparing two totally different class of rods?
I've had the T-curve 200 deep jig like you. I sold it and got myself a Smith AMJ 54h in it's place.
Feels sooo much better than the T-curve but cost a little more.
I think the Smith rods have come down in price???

Chris Webster:
Apples and Oranges mate.

Tony is 100% correct. You cannot compare the two.

When you get up into the price range of the Blue Rose there are many rods you can get that are a mile ahead.

Personally, i use a Jigging Master Power Spell and its absolutely awesome.

Perhaps if you post some of the requirements you have for a jigging rod (i.e. weight class, target species, conventional or spin and so on) we would make a few informed recommendations.

Cheers,

Chris

Sha Zhang:
Totally agree, the Jigwrex is a low budget type of rod which can be had around $300 whilst the Blue rose are nothing around $600+, while the blue rose is nice looking rod and feel great, but personally I agree what was said above that there are many rods from a few different manufacturers that are miles ahead in the selection.
