Carpenter MH80H will do this, a very strong and versatile rod, assume you are targeting GT.
Set the ray to GeeT

Hi Andy I'm actually going to be targeting big kings of the rocks down Jarvis bay with the rod it's only going to be used for poppers in that 150g range. Thanks for your reply

Worth chk'ing the Zenaq FC80-10. I have the Fokeeto Trevally 83-7 for poppers and stick baits off the stones around Sydney - the rod has been great casting 100 - 140g lures, but does have a softer tip, ideal NZ surface casting stick bait set-up. The FC80-10 is a stiffer popping stick apparently. Chk out the site sponsor Fishhead, the've been great to deal with and is where i got my Zenaq. Cheers, Carlos

Vasko ,

Why don't you consider a dedicated rock casting rod such as MC Works Raging Bull series ? Yes it is longer than your specified length but will cast further but if you still want a GT rod for the task , DJ83MH or LR88 from Carpenter would be my choise for such terrain .

Hi Jon Li I was thinking about the DJM83H is it good for working 150g poppers ,On the MC works rod a bit to long for my liking the rocks i will be fishing are not that bad i think the length of the DJM83H would be good how dose it compare to a WV80H?
Thank you for your reply

WV80XH is not a distance casting rod , DJ83MH is a better choise and beside you don't need the ultimate strength of the WV80XH . DJ83MH can handle Cubera 150 but perhaps a better choise of lure for shore casting is Skipjack 150 .

Vasko ,

Your's welcome . DJ83MH is still Yoichi Mogi's personal rod to go all over the world , be it GT , YFT and Atlantic Bluefin tuna , so your choise is a wise one .

I have a DJ83MH and find the rod just too soft to work the 150 cubera easily. It will work them but it requires a bit of extra effort as the tip is a little too soft. I am looking for a rod similar to the DJ83MH but just a bit stiffer to work the 150-200g poppers and 170g+ stickbaits.

For dedicated chugger rod , SP80M may be your answer in Carpenter range . There is one for sale now !
