Glanville:- considering the weather we had today we had an absolute cracker of a day.... we started off this morning early on and had 2 yellowfin tuna on poppers around the edge of the reef which got us all off to a very excited start, it is fairly rare to catch them on the edge of the reef. We continued on and had a little slow period on the full high tide which to me is the worst tide to fish, after a bit of a tea break we set off for a new spot and first cast we were into a decent GT we fished around this productive little reef for a while and were continuously seeing fish, the run out seemed to be the one today and most spots we stopped at we had fish coming up, everything from gt, mackerel, goldspots and a couple of long tail tuna, we found a little gold mine area in the afternoon and Adam managed to hook the beast but unlucky for him he pulled the hooks on a 45kg monster, not long after we had another fish that looked to be around 30kg scream line off and beat us in the reef, we did some trolling around and a little light tackle fishing and Leah managed to get a couple of nice golspots and a few shark mackerel, we ended the day off with a very exciting Spaniard that got fully airbourne to attack a popper lucky enough the hooks stayed stuck and we got him to the boat a solid fish of around 17kg, and a quick little plastics session which brought a few decent sized redthroats and a solid 7kg green jobfish, you know you're having fun on the water when it's raining and blowing its guts out and you barely even realise...hope this weather gives us a little gap
Nick:- The horizon looked rather grey today but this wasn't going to stop us from having a ball. We started the day off by throwing the light tackle around and managed to land some nice trout, red throat, gold spots and bludgers. After our warm up we decided to go and chase some GTs and ledge after ledge we managed to see fish but srtruggled to keep them connected.
With rain squalls moving through every hour or so it made things a little damp but still spirits were high after a mackerel came flying out of the water only to tax the stickbait and disappear. We had some awesome takes today Gts smashing lures out of the water and flying mackerel to add to the highlights. Not a bad day fishing, hope the weather clears soon.
Peter: Well it's safe to say that the weather certainly didn't get us down or slow the fishing today. We did a range of fishing throughout the day starting of with soft plastics we managed to catch around 10 quality size red throats and some other reef critters all within the space of half an hour. We then decided to throw some sebile stick shad 114s on a nice looking edge and we only planned to fish the edge for a short time but it proved to be so productive that we spent around 5 hours fishing a ledge around 200m long. We were continuously seeing and hooking fish from bludger, gold spot and giant travelley, sharkey and Spanish mackerel, long toms and a whole other range of mixed reef fish. The best capture on the light gear was a GT that would of gone 15kg which is awesome fun on the light Stella outfit. The remainder of the day was spent trolling and casting for GTs and we managed to land 2 more quality size GTs and a 12kg Spanish which kept the chef very happy!!! All in all average conditions but plenty of fish to be caught.
Clinton: It was a blowy start to the morning. I got my guys to do some light tackle to kit the morning off and we got a heap of red throat and some gold spot. There was some bird action on the top of the reef so we headed over to have a look, first cast a GT decided to grab the lure on the flats peeling line off in the shallows on the light gear it was a real battle to fight this fish and right and the end of the fight it busted off the lure. The rest of the day we fished one reef and got a mixed bag of mackerel, GTs and reef fish and got busted off on some solid fish on the troll. Considering the gnarly rain and windy weather we had a great day and got the most out of it.
