Popping in the Whitsundays
March 29, 2007, 03:15:57 PM
I'm heading off to the whitsundays at easter and again for 10 days in may. I've been to the whitsundays before but haven't had a shot at poppers. Some friends and i are hiring a 45ft boat for a week in may and will be looking to head up around hook island. I'm pretty keen to troll and use poppers to chase some GT's. Anyone have any suggestions on areas and lures that may be worth a try??

Anything that involves drinking a rum should do the trick.

there is plenty off reef along the south side off hook just past nara inlet.these reefs drop off reel quik and there is allways plenty of bait fish around. try throwing poppers into the reef working your way back to the boat.     p.s. if you have no luck on popper throw a rapala Xrap shallow diver in glass ghost colour !
