Storing large trebles ?
December 24, 2007, 10:22:29 AM
Just wondering how you guy's store your large trebles, I can't find a sml tackle  tray deep enough, atm I'm using a tupaware container but it has no dividers & the tangles are messing with my head  :o . Please help restore the balance  :-[  ;)
Cheers Chris

Mate, totally agree with you. Recorder 8/0's are bloody hard to store! I use the same kind of container (Plano does make one with a divider) but also use some wire ties from the supermarket/hardware store and elastic bands around the shanks to group lots of 4/5. Does the job.

The only plano tray I've seen deep enough were 3700 size , looking for something half that size otherwise I'll have to leave a couple of lures out  :'(

I'm speaking about this one...

Plano 3741 Waterproof StowAway Utility Box
This is a great all around deep box to have on the water for keeping items dry.

    * O-ring construction for waterproofing
    * Innovative "up latching" latches ensure tight seal
    * 2 dividers create 1-3 compartments
    * Great for large items
    * 14"L x 9.13"W x 3.25"H

Luke, I've got some of those boxes for lge fly's, they are very good but looking for something smaller as I don't see the need to take a whole tackle shop with me on day trips etc.

For what it's worth... I keep my trebles in a clear plastic tube that came with a Zucker game lure. They stack in pairs . point to point and then base to base, and are easy to get in and out and I can slip the tube into my tackle bag when I'm planning to use them. I have not used 8/o trebles though so I'm not sure how these would fit. I'll get hold of some recorders and try it. If it works OK I'll post pics. :)

I just use a plastic bottle to store my trebles. They do get a little tangled up but it is relatively compact.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Sorry to resurrect an old post but it saves doubling up... does anyone use the shimano treble case? If so how do you find it and does it accomodate hooks at the larger end of the scale?

I use a small square of polyurethane (esky material) with a row of small diameter holes drilled in it! Neck of hook sits in hole, pointy bits buried in poly! When it gets a bit tatty, you can easily make another! I have seen someone else before a trip give it a quick spray with inox and wrap with glad wrap! Very DIY but works pretty well!
