I have a Stella and now all I want is a Dogfight. They call it The Human Condition.

I haven't gotten one yet, Mark and not 100% sure I will be at this stage. The reel feels much smoother than the old model but I am very happy with my Stellas.
There are all sorts of reviews out there and some are quite negative but it's the same old nonsense we've seen for years -  friend of a friend or someone I know or someone in Timbuktu tested it and reckons they are crap. It's almost never based on anything objective and nearly always based on something someone else said or something someone heard.

I can only say that the only person I have seen using one on a trip was very happy with its performance.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Not really the best reel testing grounds if one is honest about it....  ;D 8)

Soon. I'm getting the software customised soon after the re-vamping of the main GTPopping.com site.

Always been a Stella man myself, however the new Saltiga 6500H has convinced me to give Daiwa a go. Hopefully it performs as good as it looks! Will keep you posted once i pick it up... 8)

Has anyone actually used one of the new 6500 Saltigas?  Would love to hear about it if they have.

Marcio Paes was using them at Bugatti this year. They performed as you would expect

Dear Mark,
I found out that the new saltiga 6500 is very comparable with stella 18k.
It was paired with EP85/36 filled with Avani GT PE8.
The drag is smoother compared with the DF6500 (carbontex).
One thing that i dont like is the rubber washer in-between the handle and the body.
It tends to peel out / missing if you are not careful.
And the price......gosh...currently the most expensive spinning reel in Malaysia.

just my 2 cents
cheers
izhan

Thanks for that Izhan.  Really appreciated.

On the price, if the smaller new Saltigas are anything to go by, it will drop. Upon first release in Indonesia, they were close to $150 more than you can currently buy one for.
