Lure advice please
Serge de Bruijn:
Hi,
as I am preparing for my trip I would like to ask more experienced popper fishermen for some advice regarding the lures I should buy in order to be prepared as well as I can be.
It is a 10 day trip of which 6 days will be spent popping and jigging.
My collection so far:
Poppers
-4 X Heru Cubera 150
-2 X Orion Cono Cono 150
-1 X Fisherman Big mouth 220
Stickbaits
-2 X Heru Ulua 150
-2 X Orion Bigfoot 140
-2 X Orion Bigfoot 170
-1 X Orion Big Nambas 210
-2 X Fisherman Long Pen 100
Looking for lures that are priced upto the level of Orion lures... not willing to fork out a fortune for a lure ;)
Thanks a lot !
Serge.
Ben Rivers:
Mate, have asked a similar question myself recently: http://www.gtpopping.com/forum/index.php?topic=4687.msg39075#msg39075
The most popular Go-To lures are:
Craft Bait GT2 and GT3
Sea Frogs
Orion Big Foots
Cubera 125 & 150
You seem to be pretty will covered with your current supplies.
Cheers Ben
Serge de Bruijn:
Thanks,
I actually read the topic back then... ::)
I will just add some more lures to be safe since there is no tackle shop available on the trip.
Serge.
Sami Ghandour:
Hi Serge,
If you want to keep it on the budget nothing beat the Orion!!
couple of guys i know had a failure on the middle barrel swivels of the Heru, so i would be more careful with the drag set up.
the craft bait GT3 is another alternative if budget is not an issue, we had great success with them along the Cono Cono in the past.
Glenn Travis:
Hey serge,
Just another couple of stick baits that i would reccommend to your collection without breaking the bank, are the heru bobara and the aswb sinking or floating stickbaits, ive had good success with both.
As for the popper's you cant go wrong with the Gt3, they can certinanly take a hiding and have a solid wire construction.
Glenn
