That priceless expression after a bustoff
January 15, 2012, 01:24:34 PM
I know most if not all of you have been there, I just wonder how many have had a camera on hand to capture that special moment of anger, disappointment, despair, and comprehension of the financial loss which has just been experienced.

I managed to get this rather crappy screenshot from video the other morning, when Mick and I experienced some "score-levelling" by some big fish in shallow reefy tiger country... we used to have a good hookup to landing ratio!

Please share your moments of similar emotion  ;D  they always make for the best stories  ;)

Yes, there may be a compilation video made up this week, but unfortunately this one discloses a few locations in the background...  ;)

It was a mixture of awe and pure anger. Two bustoffs in 2 cast. Silly thinking I could pull them from that spot. But very fun.

Looked like me yesterday, thought i would see how my 250 Gamma worked.
First eva cast with it, Got slurped up by what looked to be a GT from Oman.
Which then peeled off my line like it was free spooling, and kept going, going and going.............. then GONE.   >:(
On my ass on the floor of the boat, I wasn't worried about the financial lose, nor my smashed console screen, I was gutted about losing that monster.  :'(
I would of given 10 Gammas to get that fish in my boat.

Although i did hook a fish on that gamma, i didn't really get a chance to see it in action, It all happened so quick.

Anyone want to sell a 250 Gamma

Sounds epic Karl... where were you fishing?

Not too many 250's floating around out there that collectors will want to let go of!

Ha ha ha...
Andrew,
We have caught a few Classic bustoffs on vid.. Believe me its Even Worse When a Knot pulls because you have been too lazy to retie  :o

It is awesome seeing the anger in another mans face when he gets beaten solidly by a brute of a fish in heavy current.

Seen ya out there once or twice, and If it is the same spot that I think it is we have been bust off there by two fish in a row too.. Them GT popper collection is looking mighty Fine!!!!

Anyways tight lines and catch ya on the water

Nicholas,

Were you watching us last week before that storm came over.

Good to see another mackay resident out there.

Mick,

Nah not last week, recognise the boat and sneaker up the front, from one or two of the spots we have fished previously and seen you guys there.
Was wondering if it was locals or a passers-by.

If we see ya out will pull up and say huzzit, you will find there are a bunch of us chasing them here for a good few years.

Inshore fishing is one of Mackays best kept secrets, we mostly get passed by the trout killers on their way out to the reef, who dont look twice
