They are not suitable for heavy GT gear, Wong.

Hi Wong

I think this video backs up Brandons answer pretty good (go to app. 1min 15sek):

There are so many which are successfully used in GT fishing Jason. It depends on how you want to use them, your budget etc.

For fast-sinking types to really have a go at fish which are deep, I would recommend Orion Bigfoot 170 grams and up, and Carpenter Pandora 155+30.

For slow sinking types to work higher in the water column, have a look at:

ASWB SS in various sizes
Orion S-Kiv
Shimano Ocea Pencil 110 gram (a good alternative to the Gunz Tailwalk as they have a similar action but are much better quality)
Heru Bobara

The best of luck.

For like-for-like replacement of Tailwalk Gunz, I suggest you can look at Ocea Pencil, Saltiga Dorado and Smith Baby Runboh - similar types of lures but much better built.

The tailwalk Gunz have proven for me that they are real kingfish slayers.
I have seen some pull the wire out causing us to lose fish, have not seen it happen for a couple of years now.
Here in NZ the same lures are sold under a the starwalker brand, i spoke to the distributer prior to him bringing these lures in. The main thing i reccomended to him was to get stronger wire construction, according to him the ones coming in here have been built stronger. I have used them under the starwalker brand a lot and have not seen any issues with the wire and we have nailed soem good fish on them. Granted Kings dont put near the strain on lures that GTs do!!!!.
Cheers Mark

Mark, are you sure that the Starwalkers are the same lures sold under a different brand? I suspect that these are probably dreaded OEM replicas. I have heard this claim heaps of times before from tackle stores and agents saying that their lures come from the same factory as the original.

The reason I say this is because Tailwalk replicas are in Australia being sold under another name, and for more than I can buy the originals in places like Singapore. Just ridiculous.

I,m not 100% sure but I do have a measure of faith in the NZ Importer Brandon, he is also closely associated with the Jigstar brand and has alot of integrity. I managed a 100 odd  kilo striped marlin on one that held up to the thrashing very well
