Kiribati (Christmas Island)

Anyone have experience popper/stickbait fishing on Christmas Island (Kiribati)? There's a lot on the web related to fly fishing, but a dearth of info on popping/stickbait fishing. Any information related to this fishery is appreciated!

Dan, there are quite a few members on here that have fished there.
Also use the search function for some past reports specifically from CXI.

Whatever you do, make damn sure to get a whole bunch of these for dinner. The best shellfish you'll ever taste, and catching them is a wicked adventure!!!

Mario,
I was referring to the "other" Christmas Island that's about 2000km south of Hawaii. I searched this forum, but I didn't find much information. If anyone has fished there, or has insight, please inform!
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan
There are a fair few reports about that location on this forum, including of a trip that I was on last year.
I would just search Kiribati using the search function.
Here's an example

I believe Duncan (who posted that report) has also written one or more articles on his publication The Tight Line, which you can find with some googling.

The guides will take you to catch the mantis shrimp. We tried them side by side versus fresh spiny lobster and the mantis shrimp was much better. Just as tasty as slipper lobster.
