hey guys,
Loaded my new reel up with some 100lb JB hollowcore today and decided to test how strong it actually was. I wrapped one end around a wooden bat and tied the other end to a scale with about 1m in between and it broke around 33kg. I also tested 80lb tuffline and some pe 8 which both broke around 25kg. Obviously once loaded through a rod and having a shock leader this would increase the over all strength but it got me thinking how do they actually test their line to the breaking strain it states on the spool?
