Tanzania, Africa(February)
May 18, 2016, 10:46:25 AM
Although Tanzania did not give up much of her bounty the crew and charter operator made up for it. We fished 6 days with James Taylor of  http://www.fishing-tanzania.com/. He has been an operator of various lodges and sportfishing operations in Africa for 15 years. He is quite the character and his mate, Moody, is one of the hardest working people I have met and catered to our every need. We set about 10 "personal bests" over the week which shows the potential of the area. Two big GT's hit the deck at 125cm and 137cm and a few big dogtooth were lost. We had our chances but we did not get second chances. There was no practice time, warm up or do-overs. That is what made the trip difficult.

We had multiple belly laughs and moments that will never get erased from our personal hard drives. Teaching the local kids to cast a rod and reel to grilling sausage on a remote beach off the coast of Africa on a 3 days offshore sojourn. The trials and tribulations of these journeys tend to be measured in fish but those that go know that the fish are really just a diversion from life lessons that soak in over the days of casting in the hot equatorial sun.
