Hi All.
What would the recommendations be on jig types if one were to target 40kg+ yellowfin? Appreciate the help.

Hi sachin
catch yellows on 7 seas hookers, metalic sardines ,fisherman crazy longs and tin spoons we use in the cape 190g and 250g.sometimes they like long jigs some times the hookers work better all depends on what food they eating.
just my bit cheers

Another Question to add.... Assist hook or treble for YFT? Where do they hit the Jig?

hi guys
on the hooker style jigs ,i use trebles and on the rest i use assists.the tin spinners we use in the cape only come with trebles and are used on every tuna commercial boat so trebles work well.as to were the fish grabs the lure a 40-90kg yellow has a huge mouth and i have had them hooked in the  corner of the mouth , top of the  mouth or in the gullet using trebles .with assists either in the corner or in the inside of the mouth have had a few jigs totally swallowed.
 cheers mark

OK , so slower fluttery jigs for YFT. On a Hooker 7 anatahan 250gm jig what size treble? Could I use an Owner ST76 5/0?

and another question. Assuming a Blue heaven L120  do I spool up 500m of PE5 or 300m of PE8 for YFT jigging?

trevor a 5/0 is too big .120g-2/0.160g-3/0.220g-3/0-4/0.300g same 380g-4/0.450g-4/0. this is the recommended hook sizes for the anatahan jigs i use owner st66 trebles on mine .took some old battle scarred jigs and chromed them.going to be deadly on tuna this season will post a pic soon.
the B/G colour works for me very well.

Thanks Mark,  I'm off to the coral Sea soon with Shane so I'll grab some 3/0 and 4/0 trebles.
