Stick Baits on a Shimano GT Special/Saragosa
October 03, 2008, 11:28:58 AM
Hey Guys

As I read this site and learn, it looks like I should include a few stick baits for my popping trip to Fiji at Xmas. Ive been doing all the reading on here and Brandon suggests that some rods are not suitable for both poppers and sticks.

Will sticks work OK on the above set up?? or a am I gong to find it hard work??

Looks like Orion sticks are the go. Can they be bought in Aussie?? Where??

Can anyone suggest alternatives??? Eg River 2 Sea?? Daiwa Dorado?? Others??

Cheers All

That combo should work fine - the GT special is 'tippy' enough to get some good stickbait actions going.

You are probably referring to the 'sinking' version of the stickbait which most people refer to. I haven't fished Fiji much so I can't really comment on what is preferable over there. However, as always, make sure you have some quality bloopers - these are the lifeblood of our popping sport!!!

I generally pull out the stickbait when fishing is tough  >:(
