November 28, 2008, 12:52:46 PM
Hey guys,

First of all, do they really make a difference?? I've never used them before but am interested.
What are my options when considering gloves for all round purpose?? What is everyone else using?

Cheers

huge difference - don't go popping without gloves.
I use a few brands which i find very good but tend to use Fisherman these days. The Smith ones are good too and I like the Shout ones in summer.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

yes, top brands. Range in price probably from about $75 upwards
heavy braid can do terrible things to bare hands - that'e enough of a disadvantage on its own to warrant gloves

I use Fisherman gloves - strong but well ventilated. I had to import them from USA (current cost USD57). Have not found any disadvantages when popping or jigging and would hate to try either without gloves!

Do people prefer the fingerless design or full hand gloves??

Personally I wouldn't consider a fingerless design - I don't want braid under intense pressure anywhere near my bare fingers!!
