April 30, 2007, 06:27:31 PM
Nomad Sportfishing will be providing dates and details of the trips for 2008 tomorrow. If anyone is interested, please let me know as it would be fun if we could get board members organised for the same trip.  :D

Thanks Luke for the invitation to post information regarding our specialised GT trips on your website. The last Shoalwater Bay trip was fantastic and confirmed the area as a phenomenal GT destination. I'm so glad to hear that Brandon and George had such a great time out there!

The dates for Shoalwater Bay 2008 are as follows:

2-8 February
8-14 February
14-20 February

Guys - an update

Nomad will be taking a group of 8 for the first group and then groups of twelve for the next two groups. The reason why they take a smaller group for the first is because Damon and his guides fish on this week as well. It's a lot of fun seeing them groaning and struggling as well considering they're pretty good at dishing it out on us when we're on charter!

There are currently four people booked in the first group and I won't mention who you are but you're all members here. There are a number of you who have inquired of me regarding this trip. Can I say that if you're keen on joining us in the first group next year, it would be a good idea to make up your mind quickly. if you can't make the frst week but can make the second, then I might still see you. George will think I am mad but I am thinking seriously of doing two weeks there next year!

An update on this

The first two groups for Shoalwater 2008 have already been filled so if you were thinking of coming in the first week, it's a bit too late now   :'(

There are still vacancies for the third week from 14 - 20 February.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Shoalwater Bay is between Rockhampton and mackay off the central Queensland coast. The nearest airports are Mackay and Rockhampton but the floatplane flies out from Hamilton Island. By next year, the plane may fly out from Rockhampton as well.

The whole area around Island Head Creek, the headlands to the North & South & the islands such as High Peak all have big GT's around them....make no mistake...I've seen 130lb Tuff Line pop in a straight pull IN THE CREEK when a client of Damon's tried to put the brakes on a 50+kg GT.....it's an awesome place to chase them and yes, the Army can come & kick you out, though I believe they have a 2 week notification period now due to an incident inside the Bay where a boat was forced to leave in heavy weather & had major problems....most of the fishing is OUTSIDE the bay where the Army has far less to little control...
Hope this helps

Aaron.
