I certainly didn't think that was what you were implying, Mick. The group is a pretty keen one and I know the majority of the group and I can't see anyone dropping out at this stage. Still, you never know.......

Stephen, I too hope the weather is kind.  :-\

I understand, based on a chat I have with Damon the other day, that you can fish the area in most weather but a cyclone might be asking a bit much.   :o   :o

Here's hoping ah........

Unfortunately, I fear Stephen may be right. It does feel a bit cyclonic this year!
Shoalwater can be fished in pertty severe conditions because what they would do is go to the side of the island that is sheltered. It will make the trip very uncomfortable though because of the travel between islands.

Hello Brandon.....hows is the world ?

Well if that happens so be it, but I am really hoping that all is OK,        all I ask is for 1 shot 1 opportunity..........

What is your plan Brandon - you going up early or on the day ? As you have been their before your valued experience/recommendations would be great to hear - in saying this I do understand you have some quite comprehensive trip reports on other trips of which I have read - but this is typically a GT only kinda trip...... so any advise / tips will be greatly recieved.

Thanks
Peter

Pete - you have to go up the day before because we're being picked up at Yeppoon Harbour early in the morning on Saturday, 2nd February. Most, if not all of us are going up to Rocky on Friday, 1st and are staying at Rydges Yeppoon overnight.

I am catching the last plane out of Mackay on Friday 8th on Jetstar to Brisbane which is at 7.05pm. Claire has advised we should get back nto Mackay around 4pm.

While we are there for GTs, the light sportsfishing at Shoalwater is phenomenal, as good as anything I've ever seen. It is also traditional for us to do one day within Shoalwater Bay itself for barra and other estuary species. It's a lot of fun.
