But what is a TRSH?  And what is your favourite big popper?

A T-RSH is a Fisherman rod. The model is called the GT Game T-RSH.

My favourite big popper is a Fullscale 200 BIG. they're ideal for NC as they're big but still relatively light for their size, they're considerably easier to work than other equivalent big cup mouthed poppers and the strength of their wiring is superior to anything else out there.

By the look of " down lock " configuration on the reel seat , the rod with cork handle is a custom Carpenter too . Fisherman rods have " up lock " reel seat configuration .

Can anyone explain the advantage or disadvantage of the different reel seat configurations? Why lock down or why lock up? I'm not a fan of the lock down configuration on the Carpenters. I feel that I lose a little bit of leverage for casting, and a bit unstable while casting. Everything else about Carps are excellent so I'm willing to adapt to it. I don't know, maybe it's just a mental thing but I'm curious to see other opinions about the different reel seat configs.

Down lock configuration tends to exhibit less loosening due to force exerted by the angler when fighting the fish and when it is loosen , will be more likely to be detected sooner by the angler than the up lock configuration , I have seen an inexperience angler who almost drop the reel which has become so loose while fighting a stubborn fish .
