Daiwa Corp. changes name ?
October 28, 2010, 03:49:56 AM
I was looking at Japanese fishing magazine and my Japanese fishing buddy mentioned that in Japan , Daiwa Corp. has changed it's name to Globeride Inc. or something like that , check this : http://www.corporateinformation.com/Company-Snapshot.aspx?cusip=C392AI660

Daiwa trade mark will remain for the sporting goods products including fishing tackles n golf ,  anybody can shed more light on this ?

I had noticed that "globeride" had snuck into a few of the daiwa Japan websites.

Hi Jon,

On the 50th Anniversary of Daiwa Seiko inc the company decided to renew the company name going into the next 50 years.  The old company name: Daiwa Seiko incorporates DAIWA for Fishing, ONOFF for Golf, PRINCE for Tennis and CORRATEC for Cycle Sports.  The new company name of GLOBERIDE took effect on Oct 1st 2009.  Daiwa remains the name for the fishing tackle and they have released new logos as part of the rebranding of the company.  The new logos have been rolling out since the beginning of the new year.  Duncan and I were lucky enough to go to the launch of the new branding to the Daiwa staff in Osaka in Feb, not that we undersood much that was said because it was all in Japanese but they did kindly produce some English corporate books and a summation of the presentations in English for all non Japanese speaking people.

Hi Janelle ,

Thanks for the comprehensive explanation of Daiwa / Globeride name change , the only thing I was aware of the 50th Anniversary of Daiwa is getting a Zillion 50th Anniversary for the Father's day gift from my son .  ;D

Best regards : Jon .

I bought a 50th Anniversary Exist as a "collection" piece.  Would love to say I would be still fishing in another 50 years but unless there is some sort of medical miracle I doubt it.  Guess the kids can sell it then as an example of the tackle used in the olden days   :)
