Seems a bit unlikely that what is a PE12 spectra line in diameter would cast as well as a PE8 diameter dyneema line .
I long ago black-listed PowerPro from my kit box after several casting explosions of the 80lb and some expensive lures lost (and I saw exactly the same thing happen to another angler just 2 weeks ago). Would be interesting to know if this ultra heavy stuff has the same problem. It may be that it is so thick that the casting load stress is not such a problem.
Hi Mark
Your quote on the other thread is causing alittle of concern now
(Finally, I would personally counsel against using PowerPro anywhere in the 60 to 80lbs range. Infamously bad at absorbing shock load and prone to explosions. JB and TufLine XP are quite excellent though.
)Kinda of worried now but so far during all the dry casting, nothing tragic yet.
As for Jay's doubt on whether my 75kg powerpro can cast further than pe8 avani. Please take note of the below differences which may cause "unfairness" in distance when comparing the 2 lines:
1) 75kg powerpro in 18000 , avani pe8 in SOM 16K spool
2) MH79XH with the 18K Stella, SP80 or HIIB Smith or Komodo with 16K Stella
3) Direct 130 lbs leader on 18K, direct leader to uni knot with 2 - 3 feet of bite leader on 16K
All these dry casting are done on the same day.
I'm new to popping and am open to all comments.
Thank you
