Jigging Master 25000
October 28, 2011, 01:51:12 PM
Gents,

There has been a lot of talk about After Market Spools - has anyone had an experience with this one or know anything on its performance compared to SOM etc?

The new Jigging Master 25000 Monster Spool's are designed to suit the new 08 + model Shimano Stella 18000-20000.

They feature a 7 piece JM custom made CARBON MASH fiber washer + 7 piece titanium drag plate.
Powerful drag force, high line capacity, smooth drag performance when even when wet.
Our new water proof drag technology spool will allow anglers to fish with tough drag force!

Hey Ben, if you click on the image of the spool it shows the capacity on there.

no, the reels will not be able to manage a drag of this magnitude - and neither will any angler!  ;D

It's really baffling me Brandon.. honestly, if no spinning reel/s currently in the market, or any angler for that matter, are able to manage such a drag (read: sure break and/or bent shaft), I really don't see the point in JM producing a spool with such a loading? for Kamikaze anglers?  ???  Or maybe JM is going to release their own version of spinning reels who'd be able to handle such a loading..  ???

I can't answer that question, Robin. JM's claims have been outdone by the new Tuff Tackle reels that are coming where 50kg is claimed.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

Perhaps just a gimmick? Efficient drag of 25kg which is equal to the Stella's standard so whats the real gain apart from spool capacity? Well it does look cool 8) :P

Realistically though how much drag can the reel seat, the reel and an angler handle?
If you can't hold onto the rod and reel and max drag whats the point of having it?

I think if you point the rod straight at the fish then yes 50kg is hold-able. Probably not for long though :-\
If you intend to use that sort of drag over a rod then you better pack some spares cause its going to snap like a twig :o if your not on your game. Unless your using an axe handle as a rod! ::)
