How big a loop should my Bimini have?

I can just squeeze my head in the loop of my knot...

Smaller than that. As small as you can make it so as to decrease the chance of it looping over a guide and ripping it out when casting.

I found I damaged a lot more guides using twisties than I do using PR knots.

The PR is the bobbin job right? that looks like a hard knot to tie! will look into it though!

How do you get a smaller loop on the bimini? as I pull up (away from my knee or big toe) with my finger to wind on the downward wrap action my loop grows...

I use my hands and hook the loop over a nail or door handle, hang on to the tag end in my teeth and leaning forward use my finger to pull the twists up creating the downward final twist........it just takes practice.

this morning I managed to get the loop so I just could squeeze my hand through, still to big?

that is a pretty good effort. I think the risk of losing a stripper is reduced quite a bit with a loop that is so small.
Why don't you learn to tie a FG?

Fg knot all the way. Never had one fail only wish I had learnt to tie it sooner. Would have saved a few guide blowouts from a double uni in 150lb catching! Can now tie a Fg in almost the same time. Practice!
