February 13, 2015, 04:23:17 AM
In less than two weeks I'll go to andaman , preperation work started already !
I chose the jiggs , reels and rods
And i packed the terminals
But the biggest problem is the lures I can't choose I have plenty

Ah well, that's what happens to tackle junkies.......when it comes time to go fishing, we have agreat deal of trouble deciding just what to take.  :o

Its a terrible and debilitating addiction, perhaps you may need a session with Tackle Junkies Anonymous.  ;D

I'm sure you've got it covered there though.

Have fun and have a great trip.

Cheers,

Ian

Half the fun is laying it all out and deciding what to take.

Talking to guys who have fished the Andamans it's a pretty diverse fishery.

Sounds like great fun.

Hamad,

Looks like you have it covered!  I always bring way too many lures on a trip.....  I think most of us do!  Problem is lure loss in the ocean-too many wind knots, unstoppable fish and toothy critters.  If you figure on possibly losing 2 poppers and 2 stickbaits to GT each day, 10 of each should give you a nice comfort margin. Probably more than you need, but seems like a reasonable number to me for a 5-6 day trip.  Figure about 10 smaller lures for light tackle fishing.  Hopefully more experienced anglers will chime in!

I lost 1 lure in 5 days in the Andamans last year and it was my own fault. I let a sinking stickbait stay in the water while I picked out a wind knot. Needless to say it got stuck in the shallow reef.

Our crew of 7 did not lose more than5 lures total and the fishing was good. Then again I like to change lures after 1 or 2 fish anyway. Bring as many as you want to knowing you will never NEED all of them.

When I go GT fishing, I'm traveling halfway around the world and spending about $10,000 USD, so I learned to pack well.  I ran out of poppers on my last trip to Australia, so I started buying them....

HAMAD,

In Andaman we lose Very few lures, in 2008 in 8 days  2 poppers, in 2009 and still 8 days fishing 0, in the 2 cases a lot of fish to the boat and I don't fish  with a drag of 20kg  :P ;)

By cons, every time I go I always take one minimum of 40 poppers and Stickbaits it's madness  :-[

Jigs,  I don't know, it's not my cup of tea  ;)

Some top gear there mate.

Is that some crazy tail twisted leaders I see amongst the rubble?

Great leaders mate well made.

Love those west coast poppers to.

Always hard working out exactly what to take and what not to take. Find myself in a similar situation at the moment. Heading on a GT and Doggie trip in May but know there's a very good chance of a marlin or two. To pack the trolling gear or not?? Would love to target them on stickbaits if the opportunity presents itself.

Anyway hope you have a good trip and if your struggling to find something to do with any of your gear left behind I could look after it for you. Haha.

Enjoy.
