anyone knows wether the sw20000 spools will fit onto the sw10000's body?? have asked a few tackle shops, no one seems to be able to say a definate yes or no.. as most of them haven't got both the reels in stock.. so r they still like the fa series where the spools were interchangeable??? just ordered a 10000sw.. hoping to fit a little bit more line on the spool... any info greatly appreciated.

18K and 20K spools can swap (same body size), 8K and 10K spools can swap (same body size)! So the concept has changed from the FA series.

You'll get 180m of PE8 on a 10K, approx. 210m PE7, it says on the spool 270 of PE6 haven't tried that yet.

thanks andy, this will be the first shimano spinning reel i've bought.. thought of giving them a go, something different from the certates and saltigas.. hopefully will get at least 200m of pe7 on it.. going to pair it up with a carpenter coral viper or ripplefisher reversal.. haven't seen or played with the reel yet, so hoping that it'll sit on one of those rods nicely..

Andy - you're absolutely sure that the 8000 and 1000 are interchnageable in the new SW Stellas?
Are the 5000 and 600 interchangeable too?

Hi Brandon, I corresponded with 'Dude' on another forum regarding this 8000 to 10000 spool matter and he told me he had put SW10K spools onto his US SW8K. Though I don't have the SW8K so I can't be categorical. He indicated he liked the slightly slower retrieve of the US8K and was upping the line volume with the 10K spools!!

I don't know about the 5000 and 600, do you mean there is a 6k US SW version?.

Chuen Fan, I'll be testing my coral viper with a new SW10K next week also, Brandon has given the rod a good review too. I will also be popping the seal on my new ripple fisher GT Flex at the same time.

Good luck with it.

Andy, do u know of any aftermarket (studio ocean mark/yumeya etc) that make a bigger spool for the 10K sw stella? just don't feel confident knowing that there's only a couple of hundred meters of pe8 on the reel.. maybe time to bring a few spare spools of line along..

I think the 6000 is only a JDM model.
It is good if the spools are interchangeable as it gives the reels a wider range

Chuen fan - there is nothing around at the moment. Your only option is to go up to the 18000

Chuen Fan, yes if you can afford them get some extra 10K spools for your popping, where will you be fishing it?

The only after market gear so far is the 'yumeya' longer handles which are approximately 5mm longer than standard and of course the carbon knob which I can't justify, I bought fisherman knobs instead.

Brandon, got to agree on the versatility of of the 10k and 8k sw reels, i was thinking about buying an 8K PG though there is no point, the 10K PG is same price with the same ratio and a bigger spool (JDM version). With extra spools you have an extremely versatile jigging and popping kit, the next step will be waiting to see if Yumeya brings out a higher capacity spool for the 10K.

I see now the 6K available as you said, but no idea about spool compatibility with 5K.

5 & 6K are available in 5.7 and 4.6 ratio's, one would have to presume they are the same bodies.
