Patriot Design Lures

Has anyone else noticed a big improvement in the quality of the finishing on PD lures?

For a long time I stayed away from Patriot Design lures for the same as reason as avoiding Fisherman lures - the poor quality of finish relative to the pricing.

I recently though bought a bunch of Master Bomb 155s in person at a store as I was absolutely sure the quality of the finish was better than it used to be. Have played with these a bit since, and there is no doubt.

I would like to think that PD have taken notice of feedback, especially as they include a feedback form (in English!) in each lure package.  If so, top marks to them.

Any other users noticed this?

How about some of the sponsors here who sell them?

As a stockist of Patriot Designs we have seen an improvement on the qaulity of the finish and the durability of the lures. We seem to think they have improved the qaulity of the paints that they are now using.

Thanks for that. It is good to know that my impression was not false!

It also makes me want to have a try of some of the newer PD stickbaits.

Hey Mark,

It's Tom here,
You're right the finishes have definitely become more durable over the past 6 months or so.

As a whole Patriot seem to be updating a lot of their current offerings, new rods, lures etc.

Makes for some exciting times ahead! I can't wait to try the 240mm and 260mm Fatpats!

Cheers
Tom

Oh I see them, their web site is tricky to navigate.

I see they don't show the weight of the rods, do you know Tom?

Will be interesting, are you guys stocking them?

Around 490g i think Warwick.
Lighter than previous gen PD's but still not quite ripple/carpenter light.
But that can be expected with the use of Kevlar.

We will look into them in the next order

Hi Mark,

I just scrolled thru and found this thread you posted about PD lures. I recently bought
myself a fat pat 260, (next best thing to Crusty's Sidewinder ;)) from fishead which i noticed a real difference in finish from my older 205 masterbombs, wiring on the fat pat also seemed to be pretty much bullet proof.
Also as far as lure action go's i was very impressed, easy to swim in the same retreive as a
gamma(swoop and retreive) or i could twitch the sh#t out of it and get it walking the dog like it was
on a leed.
I was very impressed by the lure and i guess the Gee's were too, it only lasted around 12-15 test casts,
and only one cast at a spot i fish with a reputation for gee's that like expensive lures. (straight bust off
on P.E 10, BUGGA, but thats GT fishin).
I'll be calling the guy's at fishead soon for a few more.

Cheers
Wes

I happened to hold both new PD's carbon GT rods (prototypes). The top one (78 prism) was 490g. Both new models look great and much lighter in hand than kevlar ones.

And there must be new poppers from PD in about March. Similliar to Master Bomb, but with a bigger cup, which is set with a slight angle making retrieve easier. A lot of GTs were caught during tests. Very impressive action....
