Amazing catch on that teenie weenie rod!
Any chance of more details like location, depth, time taken to land and maybe drag settings as well?

I used to be fanatic about Hots' rods... have a few of them actually... until I have writing in to Chris Teng more than a couple of times via email and through his website to find out 1 basic thing... but to no avail. All I needed to know was the max drag setting on this rod.

Chris caught this in the Disputed Islands off Taiwan.  Most of the jigging grounds are in 150-180m of water which is why the vast majority of Taiwan jiggers favour overhead set up.

At the beginning of their short season (now) the fanatical jiggers will be on stand by for the next two months, when conditions suit (ie no typhoons!) they charter a boat to themselves in an attempt to catch the record fish.

If one goes to this much effort and expense in pursuit of their dream/goal then I think they deserve every success.

Interestingly, Taiwan jiggers are increasingly favouring the 4'8" length such as the aclaimed Jigging Master 500 Power Spell.

Just gotten some additional information on Chris' AJ catch...

The fish was landed on 17kg drag   :o on PE6 line and number 40 fluoro-carbon leader.

I've said it before but this thing is so big it looks like a dugong! I've never seen an AJ that was so thick in the middle
If it swims; I want to catch it!

I don't know much about Hots but it seems like the rod is 4'8" and extra extra heavy!!
That fish is an absolute dinosaur - the fisherman doesn't loook that happy but he is probably one step from absolute exhaustion after hauling that thing up!
If it swims; I want to catch it!
