Terminal Knot with 2 Contact Points

Malcolm Crane:
Try the modified Jansik knot. I've been using it for probably a couple of years now after Roger from Streamline Leaders recommended it to me and I'm completely confident with the knot. It's all I use. It's the simplest knot to tie, you can literally do it in seconds and barely need to watch what you are doing.
You'll find links on the web to the Jansik knot and they are easy to follow. However, for the heavier leader we use its only necessary to make two loops through the eye of the lure or swivel, pass the tag end behind the main line and then back twice through the loops created and then pulled tight. A very small and neat jam knot is created.

Brandon Khoo:
I like that Jansik knot!!

Duncan O'Connell:
I've used the Chain knot (the same one commonly used for jigging) for connecting mid-weight leaders to lures. All my heavy GT leaders are crimped to a swivel, but I commonly use the chain knot up to 130lb mono or about 80lb fluoro. I haven't had any problems with this connection, though the 'chain' section of the knot doesn't ever seem to sit completely straight and neat as I would like it to.
Beyond those strengths I find it difficult to get it to seat properly. The wraps around the eye of the lure tend to want to jump over one another which then cuts into itself under load.

I noticed that Kenji Konishi uses the chain knot for connecting main leaders onto a crimped loop on his bite leader attached to Gammas, which I thought was a bit different.

Brandon Khoo:
I hate that chain knot connection - it's bulky, chunky, doesn't bite properly with heavy leader and never seems to sit properly. That said, while a couple of the half hitches will loosen, the knot is almost foolproof as it will not slip. It was popularised by Mogi San which is why a lot of the Japanese use it

Mark Harris:
With you on the Chain Knot thing -  I am sure it works but it always looks so untidy.

The Jansik knot is interesting for sure and looks very simple to tie.  Off to try it!
